Former Liverpool captain, Jordan Henderson saw an end to his Liverpool career this summer following his move to Al-Ettifaq to rejoin Liverpool legend, Steven Gerrard who now manages the club.

However, the England international has been in the media doing quite some talking about his time on Merseyside, and during his interview with The Athletic, Jordan Henderson gave insight into what former teammate, Mohamed Salah’s future at Liverpool might be moving forward.

The former Sunderland star explained of the situation, even admitting to have spoken with the Egyptian, however not in the light of a move to Saudi Arabia.

According to Jordan Henderson, their conversations dwelt more in the realm of checking on each other’s well-being following his exit from Liverpool.

The 33-year-old said of his contact with the Liverpool star;

“Obviously I spoke to him briefly over the past week or two in terms of he was asking if I was okay, everything was all right, how I’m settling in, the normal sort of stuff. I’ve sort of left him with this.”

The ex-Captain goes on to explain his choice to keep a distance away from the discussion on Mohamed Salah’s move, stating it will be in Salah’s best interest to let the Egyptian make the decision for himself.

“He’ll have everybody ringing him and texting him and things like that. So I’ve sort of left him to it. I don’t really know exactly what’s going on. I just see what’s being said in the media in terms of the bids going in and things like that.” Henderson said.

The Al-Ettifaq player however did hint at a possible change in whatever decision Salah or Liverpool arrive at.

“It’ll be interesting to see what happens because he’s an amazing player, an amazing guy and whatever happens, he’ll have a big impact – whether that’s at Liverpool or in the Saudi League, whatever it may be.

“Whether that’s now, in the future or whenever it may be. He’s a fantastic addition to any team.”
