Senator Ifeanyi Ubah has shared his vision for transforming governance in Anambra.

The representative for Anambra South in the National Assembly made this statement, encouraging the people of Anambra to support him in the upcoming 2025 governorship election.

During a press conference in Nnewi on Sunday, Mr. Ubah, a member of the All Progressive Congress (APC), expressed his desire to serve a single four-year term.

According to his statement, he plans to hold Local Government Area elections within four months of the general election. This is aimed at promoting political engagement at the grassroots level and ensuring that funds allocated to LGAs are used for competitive and decentralized development.

According to him, local government elections would lead to the decentralization of power, allowing local governments to access funds and prioritize grassroots development, while the state government would maintain a supervisory role.

“All I ask for is one term of four years, I promise to conduct Local Government Area election within four months of election.

“At the moment, I rate governance in Anambra for the past 18 years at 20 percent, I will bring 80 percent content that has never been discussed in governance.

“I have a burning desire to contest the next governorship election in Anambra because this government and those before it has not been able to put the state in the development trajectory that our people desire.

“We have a need to create support for our commerce, we have to develop our sector to make it a hub for health tourists and we have to accelerate community development through local government elections.

“Voting people with over over-bloated personality and structure has failed us, it time we vote for people with passion, people with a track record, that is who I represent, I am prepared to change the narrative, that is why my manifesto has remained the same from 2013 till date,” he said.
Mr Ubah said he had the electoral wrest power from the ruling All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, having won Senate seat two consecutive times on the platform of Young Progressives Party, a minority party.
He described the faceoff between the Prof. Chukwuma Soludo government and traditional rulers in Anambra following conferment of Chieftaincy title on him as unfortunate and unnecessary.
“I felt bad about it, it is a debt in our traditional institution, I strongly believe that those who championed that did not know what they did. Thank God it has been revered though without apology to me,” he said.
