I Have No Business With Fraud—D’ Banj to Nigerians
D’ banj otherwise known by his real name Oladapo Oyebanjo turned the internet in on itself when reports came out that he had been picked up by the ICPC (Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission) over an alleged involvement in a fraudulent scheme to defraud the federal government programme of the N Power.
The musician who isn’t ready to be taken down without having his say on the matter, took to his Instagram handle to explain what really went on, particularly to his detractors following his release from ICPC custody on Friday.
D’ banj in his post explained that contrary to some reports, he was only invited for questioning on an ongoing investigation, which he assisted the commission in with the necessary information needed.
He wrote on his social media handle, in quotes:
“Global thank you to the world. I was invited on an ongoing investigation in ICPC. I have assisted the commission with all I know and I am confident in their capacity to unravel the truth. I have no business with fraud, all I do is chop life. I was released on self-recognition because nothing was seen or found on me. God bless you all my people,” he captioned his recent photo.
The musician’s lawyer came to his defense, stating:
“Nothing incriminating was found on him. He was released on self-recognition. Right now, we expect the ICPC to give a letter of clearance to Dbanj because, as we have always said, he is innocent of the charges brought against him.”
D’banj was released on supervised probation, according to his lawyer Pelumi Olajengbesi, who was unable to confirm whether the ICPC had granted the musician administrative bail.
Additionally, he stated that no evidence of fraudulent behavior was linked to the singer by the ICPC.
