How housekeeper strangled Lucky Igbinedion’s mum to death

An Ex-governor of Edo state, Lucky Igbinedion is currently bereaved as he tragically lost his mum, Madam Oredola Igbinedion, on December 2, 2021.

Some unconfirmed reports stated she was strangled to death or suffocated with a pillow by her housemaid said to be on the run.

It was said that the 85-year-old woman was allegedly strangled by her housemaid, at her residence in Ugbor, GRA, Benin-City, the State capital. It was further learnt that the maid who hailed from Cross River state, ransacked the deceased’s home for her jewelries and money, and carted them all away after she allegedly snuffed life out of her.

A close family source said that security forces have been alerted with a view to tracking the runaway suspect down.

 

“Any amount, I repeat, any amount will be paid for information leading to the arrest of this girl. She is a murder suspect and is wanted by the police and Benin people” he said

 

The police is yet to confirm whether it is working on the murder theory.

 

Maria Oredola was the first wife of the Esama of Benin Kingdom, Chief Gabriel Igbinedion. She is survived by her husband Chief Igbinedion, her children former Governor Lucky Igbinedion, Bright Igbinedion, Charles Igbinedion, Mabel Amadin, and many grandchildren.

Meanwhile, the burial arrangement for the Octogenarian has been announced by the family.

According to the burial program, a service of songs will be held for the deceased on Thursday, 9 December 2021. She will be interred on Friday, December 10, after a funeral service at St. Augustine Catholic Church, by Water Resources Off Ugbor Road, in Benin.

Lucky is a son of Gabriel Igbinedion, Esama of the Kingdom of Benin. He holds a BSc in marketing (1982) from the University of Wyoming in Laramie, and an MBA (1983) from Jackson State University, Mississippi, in the United States
