Hadi Sirika arraignment: Alleged N2.7bn fraud charges

Former Aviation Minister, Hadi Sirika, has arrived at the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, ahead of his anticipated arraignment today.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) charged him with an alleged N2.7 billion fraud related to the failed Nigerian Air project.

Hadi Sirika is a Nigerian politician and former pilot, who served as the Minister of Aviation under President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration from 2015 to 2021.

Before his ministerial appointment, Sirika had a distinguished career as a commercial pilot with Nigeria Airways and later became a captain with various airlines, including Kabo Air and Allied Air.

He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Geography from the Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto.

Sirika is expected to appear before Justice Sylvanus Oriji of the FCT High Court. The charges reportedly involve allegations of misappropriation of public funds and abuse of office during his tenure as Minister of Aviation.

Hadi Sirika’s arraignment comes after days of interrogation by the EFCC following his arrest in late April.

His appearance in court today marks a significant development in the ongoing investigation into corruption allegations within Nigeria’s aviation sector.
