Police in Adamawa State have confirmed the kidnap of 90-year-old Alhaji Dahiru Nyako, brother to former governor Murtala Nyako by gunmen.
Police spokesman Sulaiman Nguroje told News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Yola, the state capital, that the older Nyako was kidnapped yesterday in his residence at Mayo-Belwa town, the headquarters of Mayo-Belwa Local Government Area.
“The command had already deployed anti-kidnapping and Operation Farauta squads for quick response and rescue missions,” Nguroje said.
NAN reports that Mayo-Belwa, Jada, Ganye and Toungo council areas in southern Adamawa have been under kidnappers’ siege.
