Guardiola vows to remain at the Etihad if Man City get relegated

Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, addressed the media ahead of the highly anticipated Premier League clash against Liverpool, shedding light on his stance if the club faces repercussions for alleged breaches of Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations, following Everton‘s recent 10-point deduction for breaching Profitability and Sustainability Rules.

In light of Everton’s punishment, attention swiftly shifted to City’s situation, with reports suggesting a nine-season breach of FFP regulations. Guardiola was queried about his future should the reigning champions face sanctions.

“I will not consider my future if we are in League One; I will be more likely to stay,” Guardiola asserted, emphasizing his commitment to the club despite the uncertainty looming over potential consequences.

However, Guardiola refrained from delving extensively into Everton’s case, underscoring the dissimilarities between City’s situation and Everton’s recent penalty. He urged caution in drawing parallels between the two cases, highlighting the complexity of the issues at hand and cautioning against premature conclusions based on speculation.

“I’m not going to say one word about Everton because I don’t know the reality of what happened. They are two completely different cases,” Guardiola clarified, reiterating his stance from earlier discussions on the matter. He emphasized the need to wait for the legal process to unfold, highlighting the lack of concrete information available to the public.

Guardiola acknowledged the swirling conjecture and opinions circulating about City’s potential punishment but stressed the importance of awaiting the factual outcome before making any assumptions or judgments.

“All the people who say it don’t know exactly what happened. I haven’t read it all. But wait, what I said a month ago – if we’ve done something wrong we’ll be punished,” the Spaniard stated, reinforcing his belief in due process while reiterating his commitment to staying at the helm, irrespective of the outcome.
