Drake withdraws Grammy nominations

Drake who has been nominated for two categories in Grammy Awards 2022 withdraws his two nominations.

Variety first reported the news by saying Drake’s management has asked the Recording Academy to remove him as a nominee on the final-round ballot for the 64th annual Grammy Awards and the Academy has honored the request.

Drake was nominated for Best Rap Performance for “Way 2 Sexy”, and Best Rap Album for “Certified Lover Boy”. In the Best Rap Album category, nominees also included Kanye West’s Donda, J. Cole’s The Off-Season, Nas’ King’s Disease II, and Tyler, the Creator’s Call Me If You Get Lost.

Drake has previously voiced out his displeasure concerning the Grammys, and when The Weeknd was snubbed last year, he wrote;

“I think we should stop allowing ourselves to be shocked every year by the disconnect between impactful music and these awards and just accept that what once was the highest form of recognition may no longer matter to the artists that exist now and the ones that come after. It’s like a relative you keep expecting to fix up but they just can’t change their ways.”
