Governorship election: We are not in talks with Labour Party – PDP

Lagos State’s Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has refuted rumors circulating on social media that its governorship candidate, Abdul-Azeez Adediran (Jandor), is in talks with Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, the Labour party’s (LP) candidate.

A Twitter user, @zuccinille, had previously claimed that Jandor was going to collapse his structure to work for a particular political party.

The PDP Publicity Secretary in the state, Hakeem Amode, stated in a press release that the party is not in talks with any political party, and Jandor has no plans to step down for any candidate of any political party.

The statement highlighted that the PDP is a proper democratic party, and only the state executive of the party can be described as the custodian of the PDP.

Furthermore, Amode noted that Jandor is a self-made political force in Lagos who is committed to liberating the state from the incumbent oligarchy government.

He emphasized that whoever Rhodes-Vivour is talking to is only representing themselves and not Lagos PDP, and there is no official conversation across the two-party lines at the moment.

The statement clarified that Jandor, as a candidate in this election, has achieved making the Jandor brand a household name in Lagos on his own merit due to his immense hard work and is not riding on any sudden waves.

The PDP urged their supporters and the good people of Lagos state to respect and defend the people’s decision to ensure that Lagos breaks free in the coming gubernatorial election of March 11.

They stressed that the efforts to liberate Lagos from the present oligarchy government of the All Progressives Congress (APC) cannot be undermined by people who do not see such a great battle that must be won and cannot be subjected to social media rumors.
