Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has mandated an audit of the accounts of the state’s 23 Local Government Areas (LGAs) covering the past three years.

The directive was issued to the Auditor General on Wednesday during the swearing-in of the Caretaker Committee Chairmen at the Executive Council Chamber in Port Harcourt, the state capital.

Governor Fubara stated that the audit is aimed at enhancing accountability and setting a standard for the incoming chairmen.

He emphasized the importance of the caretaker chairmen protecting the interests of their communities and proving their worthiness for the positions.

In addition to the audit, Fubara has also called for an investigation into the tenures of the outgoing local government chairmen, underscoring his administration’s commitment to transparency and effective governance.

Further details will be provided as the situation develops.
