Gov. Abdulrazaq Abdulrahman set up probe panel on Hijab violence

The Kwara State Governor,  Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, has set up a seven-man probe panel to investigate the recent violence in Oyun Baptist High School, Ijagbo, Oyun Local Government Area of the state.

It was recently reported how a hijab-wearing protest erupted in Offa, Kwara state

The school was also shut by the state government to allow peace reign.

A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Rafiu Ajakaye, in Ilorin on Thursday, said the seven-man panel has three weeks from the first day of sitting to submit its report to the state government.

“The panel will invite and listen to all the parties including the leadership of the school, establish the truth of what happened and the roles of various persons involved.

“The panel will also make recommendations to the government on how to prevent such unfortunate situations in the future,” the statement added.

The pioneer Provost of Kwara State College of Health Technology, Offa, who is currently a Director at the National Open University of Nigeria, Shehu Omoniyi, is the chairman of the panel, while the Secretary-General of Ijagbo Descendants Progressive Union, Emmanuel Adebayo Fatola, is the Co-chairman, with five others as members.
