Gas distribution partnership: Shell, Oyo join force

Shell Nigeria Gas (SNG) has announced a groundbreaking partnership with the Oyo State Government to establish a comprehensive gas supply and distribution network, aimed at serving industrial and commercial entities across the state.

In a statement released on Friday by Abimbola Essien-Nelson, Media Relations Manager of Shell Nigeria, it was disclosed that SNG would oversee the construction and operation of the gas distribution infrastructure.

This infrastructure is projected to cater to the energy needs of customers throughout Oyo State over a span of 20 years.

Essien-Nelson emphasized that beyond gas distribution, the project holds the potential to drive industrial and economic growth within Oyo State.

The initial phase of development will focus on laying a 15-kilometre pipeline route, with provisions for expansion to deliver up to 60 million standard cubic feet of gas per day across the state.

“This initiative is poised to greatly enhance access to clean and reliable energy sources, thereby setting the stage for a more prosperous future for Oyo State,” affirmed the statement.

The successful execution of this project is anticipated to not only bolster the socio-economic landscape of Oyo State but also contribute to a greener and more sustainable energy trajectory for the region.
