Game of Thrones actress, Sophie Turner sues husband over kids

Sophie Turner, renowned for her portrayal of Sansa Stark in the political fantasy series, “Game of Thrones”, has filed a formal complaint against her estranged husband, Joe Jonas, in a New York court.

The complaint, which was obtained by PEOPLE, alleges that Turner is seeking permission for their young daughters to return to England with her, citing Jonas’s alleged wrongful retention of the children’s passports.

The couple’s two daughters, aged 3 years and 14 months, have become the focal point of a contentious custody dispute. Turner, 27, asserts that she and Jonas, 34, had previously agreed that England would be their daughters’ “forever home,” even going as far as selling their Florida residence earlier this year in preparation for the move.

According to Turner’s complaint, the initial plan was for the children to accompany Jonas on his ongoing tour with the Jonas Brothers, while she filmed the miniseries Joan in the United Kingdom, as Jonas would have more available daytime hours to spend with them.

However, Turner claims that their four-year marriage unraveled “very suddenly” following an argument on August 15, which happened to be Jonas’s birthday. Jonas subsequently filed for divorce several weeks later, while Turner was still in the U.K. She contends that she first learned about the divorce proceedings “from the media.”

The latest development in the legal battle occurred on September 17 when the two parties met to discuss the terms of their separation.

Sophie Turner insists that she reiterated the original agreement to move to England with the children, but Jonas allegedly reneged on the deal. In her complaint, Turner states that Jonas “refuses to return the passports to the Mother and refuses to send the children home to England with the Mother.”

In an added twist, it has been revealed that Turner intends to initiate legal proceedings in the U.K. as well, indicating the international scope of the custody battle.

A representative for Joe Jonas challenged Turner’s account of recent events in a statement provided to EW. The statement clarified that the Florida court overseeing their divorce has issued an order that currently restricts both parents from relocating with the children.

“Joe is seeking shared parenting with the kids so that they are raised by both their mother and father, and is of course also okay with the kids being raised both in the U.S. and the UK,” the statement read.

“The children were born in the U.S. and have spent the vast majority of their lives in the U.S. They are American citizens.”

The representative emphasized that the children “were not abducted” and further stated, “After being in Joe’s care for the past three months at the agreement of both parties, the children are currently with their mother.

Sophie Turner is making this claim only to move the divorce proceedings to the UK and to remove the children from the U.S. permanently.”
