Erik ten Hag to bring another former player to Manchester United

In the midst of a challenging season for Manchester United, manager Erik ten Hag is reportedly eyeing a reunion with former Ajax star Brian Brobbey in the upcoming summer transfer window.

The Red Devils have struggled to find the net consistently, with midfield maestro Scott McTominay leading the scoring charts from the middle of the park.

As United grapple with offensive woes and currently sit in eighth place in the Premier League, speculation surrounding Ten Hag’s future intensifies in the wake of Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s proposed 25% takeover.

The potential new ownership, led by Ratcliffe and INEOS’ director of sport Sir David Brailsford, is expected to bring a hands-on approach to the club’s sporting operations.

Despite the uncertainties, Ten Hag seems optimistic about his tenure at Old Trafford and is reportedly eager to bolster his squad with the addition of Brian Brobbey.

The 21-year-old striker, who enjoyed success under Ten Hag at Ajax, is seen as a potential solution to United’s goal-scoring woes. However, financial constraints may delay any move for Brobbey until the summer, especially with the likely departure of Anthony Martial as a free agent.

The Mirror reports that Brobbey is high on Ten Hag’s wishlist, but Arsenal is also said to be expressing interest in the young Dutch talent. Having made his Ajax debut in 2020 under Ten Hag‘s guidance, Brobbey returned to the club in 2022 after an unsatisfactory stint in the Bundesliga with RB Leipzig.

Despite Ten Hag’s attempt to lure him to United, Brobbey chose to remain at Ajax, expressing his desire to continue his journey with the Dutch club.

The striker cited his strong connection with Ajax, including friendships and the team’s playing style, as key factors in his decision.

If Brobbey were to join Manchester United, he would become the fourth player to reunite with Ten Hag at the English club, following in the footsteps of Andre Onana, Lisandro Martinez, and Antony, all of whom enjoyed success under the Dutch manager in the Eredivisie before making the move to England.
