Erik ten Hag replies reporter who wants to see Man United in crisis

Manchester United‘s manager, Erik ten Hag, found himself in an unexpected exchange during an interview ahead of their crucial Champions League clash between Man United and Galatasaray.

As the team seeks to reverse a turbulent season, Ten Hag faced an unusual comment from a reporter that stirred reactions online.

The dialogue unfolded as the reporter remarked,

“Every week feels like a big week but this feels like an important week for you. A little bit of a point where the season can really improve, or another crisis as we like to see from the outside.”

Ten Hag, caught off guard by the remark, responded,

“Oh, you like it? Okay, that’s quite honest. You want to see it, but we don’t care about that.”

Social media swiftly reacted to the exchange. One fan interpreted the journalist’s comment differently, saying, “I don’t think the journalist necessarily meant it like that but good for EtH. So calm and composed.”

Another comment read, “Really strange thing for the interviewer to say.”

The Man United manager’s composed reaction drew praise, with a fan stating, “He actually confirmed that they like seeing him struggle, that’s crazy… Props to ten Hag for the response.”

Another echoed similar sentiments, emphasizing, “What, and I must emphasize this, WHAT have I just watched? That’s a crazy thing to say to him. Well dealt with by Erik.”

Amidst this, Man United, currently at the bottom of Group A, faces a crucial fixture against Galatasaray, requiring a win to keep their hopes alive for the last 16 in the Champions League.

Ten Hag expressed confidence in their abilities, stating, “We know we can [win away in Europe] and we are confident.”

Reflecting on their approach, he emphasized the need to create their own future rather than relying solely on the club’s historic successes.

“Obviously Manchester United has a great history, but you can’t take any guarantee from it in the future, so we have to make our own future,” he stated. “It’s the past, so tomorrow it’s about the future, so we have to make it our game. It’s on us.”

United‘s recent Premier League form, with a convincing 3-0 victory over Everton, has bolstered their spirits, but their European campaign demands a turnaround, and Ten Hag appears determined to steer the team toward a brighter path.
