EFCC Thwarts Alleged Vote Buying Attempt in Imo State
A video has gone viral on social media showing operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) disrupting vote buying attempt by party thugs at a polling unit in Owerri, Imo State.
According to reports, agents of a particular political party stormed the polling unit with thugs and engaged in vote buying until EFCC officials arrived.
The anti-graft agency officials engaged the party thugs in a hot pursuit, leading to a gun exchange between them and the hoodlums.
In the video, the security agents could be seen firing gunshots and hopping into their trucks to chase off the thugs.

Meanwhile, Sunday Zaka, the chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has passed away.
The politician lost his life in a car accident that occurred in the early hours of Saturday, February 25, on the Guda-Arena road in Kuje town, Abuja.
According to a close aide of the deceased, Bawa Benjamin, who confirmed the incident, Mr. Zaka was returning home after attending a closed-doors meeting with party officials in Abuja when the accident happened. “He lost control of his Peugeot car and crashed into a tree,” said Bawa.
Despite being rushed to the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital Gwagwalada, he was confirmed dead by doctors.
Mr. Zaka was a prominent figure in Nigerian politics, having served as the chairman of the PDP in the FCT since 2016. His death is a great loss to the party and the nation as a whole.
