DSS secures 60-day detention for suspected terrorist, Ibrahim Nasiru

The Department of State Services (DSS) has successfully obtained a court order to detain Ibrahim Nasiru, a suspected terrorist, for 60 days for a thorough investigation.

Justice Peter Lifu of the Federal High Court in Abuja granted the order on Tuesday, allowing the DSS to further investigate Nasiru’s alleged involvement in terror-related activities.

The DSS had initially detained Nasiru on July 29 and sought the extension through an ex-parte application presented by Barrister Yunusa Idris Umar. The application was made to allow the DSS to delve deeper into the numerous allegations against the suspect.

Although the suspected terrorist Ibrahim Nasiru had already been brought before a Magistrate Court in Abuja where an initial detention order was issued, the DSS argued that additional time was essential to investigate the suspect’s alleged activities thoroughly.

Specific details of Nasiru’s suspected activities were withheld during the court session for security reasons. However, Barrister Umar emphasized the importance of extended detention in the interest of national security.

After reviewing the documents and evidence submitted by the DSS, Justice Lifu ruled in favour of the 60-day detention, effective from August 27, to facilitate further investigation and interrogation by the security agency.
