The Defence Headquarters has reacted to renewed attacks by suspected Boko Haram insurgents in Borno and Katsina States. The DHQ said Nigerians should not panic in the face of the attacks.

It said the attacks were in reaction to the pressure on the hoodlums by troops on counter-insurgency operations.

The terrorists had killed over 80 persons in some villages in Katsina and Borno states on Tuesday, sparking fear among Nigerians.

Addressing Defence correspondents in Abuja on Thursday, the Coordinator, Defence Media Operations, Maj. Gen. John Enenche, said the attacks were not unexpected, given the heat of bombardments on the camps of the insurgents by troops.

Enenche stated, “What is happening now in the North East is a reaction to the heat in the camps of the terrorists and this will continue until they are reduced to nothing.

“The airstrikes that started on Wednesday by the gallant troops will be sustained until normalcy is restored to the troubled region; there is no cause for alarm.”

He appealed to the members of the public not to panic “as the situation was under the total control of the Nigerian troops who are in high spirit.”

I love to read, write and TRAVEL!!! The media space is my canvas to paint the truths of our brands and the stories of our Nigerian culture. I love a good book any day because with them I can travel to spaces that are perfect in their frame.
