Disgruntled Ronald Koeman blasts Barcelona
Ronaldo Koeman isn’t a very popular figure among the Barcelona fandom judging by the disaster which many would claim marks the Dutchman’s era as Manager.
Some of its fans lay off criticisms on the former Everton manager caring less if he once had a reputation of being a former Barcelona player/legend.
And now, the former Barcelona manager has taken a swipe at the club and its current manager, Xavi’s tactical system that involves a 4-3-3 formation.
The Dutchman who left the Camp Nou prior to Xavi Hernandez joining the Blaugrana, spoke about the club still stuck in the past glory days.
He criticizes the club of not having adapted to the new era of football while still intent on playing the tiki taka.
The former Southampton coach, who was sacked by Barcelona last October following a run of poor results, was accused of not using the club’s famous tiki-taka system, in response, he told Esport3:
“I’m in favour of dominating the game.
“Barca lives in the past, from 4-3-3, from ‘tiki-taka’. Football has changed. Now it’s faster, more physical. You can’t live in the past.”
Reacting to Lewandowski leaving Bayern for Barcelona, Ronald Koeman offered his take on the potential deal for the Polish international ahead of this summer.
“Lewandowski is a great player, a regular goalscorer, but he is of a certain age. 35 years old? I would’ve many doubts about signing him or not signing him.” he said.
