Dino Melaye reacts as Islamic Cleric prays for his success in Kogi Governorship election
Dino Melaye, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Kogi State, has responded to prayers offered by a Muslim scholar for his success in the upcoming Kogi governorship election scheduled for November 11, 2023.
Melaye shared a video on his Twitter page that showed the Muslim cleric praying for him in the midst of some children.
In the video, the children can be seen reciting prayers for Melaye to win the gubernatorial election in Kogi State.
Excited by the gesture, Melaye responded with a simple “Amen” on his Twitter page, indicating his acceptance of the prayers.

This is not the first time Melaye has attributed his political success to divine intervention. In a recent appearance on the Channels TV programme ‘Politics Today,’ Melaye claimed that God had bankrolled his primary election, which led to his victory in the PDP ticket for the governorship race.
During the interview, Melaye stated that he had given anointing oil to delegates to drink, which he attributed to the “magic” of his win in the primary election.
However, he did not provide further details or explanation about the role of the anointing oil in his victory.
Melaye’s acceptance of the prayers from the Muslim cleric and his previous claims of divine intervention in his political career highlight the role of religion in Nigerian politics, where politicians often seek support from religious leaders and rely on their followers’ faith for success in elections.
