'Dead' Indian woman comes alive moments before cremation

Miracle they say happens in the rarest of instances, and in Berhampur, India, it’s the alleged resurrection of an Indian woman who was believed dead just minutes to her cremation that sets the narratives on fire.

The Indian woman stunned her family and neighbors when she made a startling recovery just moments before her scheduled cremation. Bujji Aamma, aged 52, had suffered severe burns in a home fire on February 1, leaving half of her body engulfed in flames.

Rushed to MKCG Medical College and Hospital for treatment, her condition remained critical upon returning home, exacerbated by the family’s financial constraints, which hindered further medical care.

As Aamma’s health deteriorated, her husband, Sibaram Palo, fearing the worst, believed she had succumbed to her injuries. With heavy hearts, the family made arrangements for her final rites, arranging for a hearse van to transport her to the cremation ground.

Palo, speaking to the Times of India, expressed the family’s conviction that Aamma had passed away.

However, just as the funeral pyre was about to be ignited, Aamma startled everyone by opening her eyes, signaling signs of life. K Chiranjibi, who was present during the incident, described the astonishment and initial fear at witnessing such an unprecedented event.

The driver of the hearse, Khetrabashi Sahu, who had initially transported what was believed to be Aamma’s body from her home to the cremation ground in the morning, was promptly called back to the scene.

Aamma, miraculously revived, was taken back home in the same hearse that had been prepared for her final journey.
