Chelsea to sacrifice 5-players after making 10-new signings
Chelsea is in the midst of a significant summer transformation, as the club prepares to bring in up to ten new signings, including Wolves’ Pedro Neto and potentially Napoli’s goal machine, Victor Osimhen.
This aggressive recruitment drive means that several current squad members are poised to be shown the door, making way for fresh talent and a new era at Stamford Bridge.
Among those likely to be sacrificed are Romelu Lukaku, Trevor Chalobah, Armando Broja, Kepa Arrizabalaga, and David Datro Fofana. These players, once considered key assets, now find themselves on the chopping block as Chelsea seeks to trim its squad and comply with the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability (PSR) rules.

Romelu Lukaku’s return to Chelsea was supposed to be a fairytale comeback when the club splashed a massive £97.5 million to bring him back from Inter Milan for the 2021-22 season.
However, the Belgian striker struggled to find his feet in the Premier League, failing to replicate the form that made him one of Europe’s most feared forwards. After spending the last two seasons on loan at Inter Milan and AS Roma, Lukaku’s time at Chelsea looks to be drawing to a close. Napoli, who could lose Victor Osimhen to a big-money move, may see Lukaku as the ideal replacement.
Defender Trevor Chalobah, who emerged as a promising talent under former manager Thomas Tuchel, is also rumored to be on his way out. With the arrival of new defensive signings, Chalobah’s opportunities in the first team could be limited, making him a prime candidate for either a permanent transfer or a loan move to gain regular playing time.
Armando Broja, the young striker who impressed during a loan spell at Southampton, finds himself in a similar predicament. Despite showing flashes of potential, Broja might be moved on to create space for incoming strikers, especially with Osimhen potentially leading the line for the Blues next season.
Veteran goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga, once the world’s most expensive goalkeeper, is another player likely to depart. With Chelsea looking to solidify their goalkeeping options, Kepa’s inconsistent performances have left his future at the club in doubt. The arrival of a new number one could see Kepa seek opportunities elsewhere, possibly on loan or through a permanent move.
Finally, David Datro Fofana, a young forward with bags of potential, could be sent out on loan to continue his development. The Ivorian, who joined Chelsea in January, may find first-team chances hard to come by with the influx of new attacking talent.
As Chelsea’s new manager shapes his squad to compete on multiple fronts next season, the departure of these five players is almost inevitable. The arrival of Pedro Neto as the club’s tenth signing and the potential addition of Victor Osimhen as an eleventh could mark the end of the road for these established stars, paving the way for a bold new chapter in Chelsea’s pursuit of silverware.
The summer clear-out is a clear statement of intent from the Blues, signaling a commitment to revitalizing the squad and reclaiming their status as one of Europe’s elite.
