Chelsea now a laughing stock of the Premier League

The premier league weekend is always a weekend to look forward to, but for Chelsea fans, the past two seasons have become something to dread.

The West-London side continued their poor run of form at home to face a grudging defeat to a familiar foe in Unai Emery’s Aston Villa side.

Ollie Watkins was on hand to gift the away side maximum points at Stamford Bridge to leave the Blues in tears for another week running.

Six games for Chelsea under Mauricio Pochettino’s management, with their only victory coming against Luton Town in a 3-0 rout, 2 draws against Liverpool on opening day and last weekend versus AFC Bournemouth.

Aston Villa however comes with a different tale for the West-London club, and a tale that should be very worrying for Chelsea fans.

The Blues recorded on average the most possession at home to their opponents but suffered the most shots on goal, with goalie Robert Sanchez having to make countless saves to keep Chelsea in the game.

An argument could be made for new signing, Malo Gusto getting sent off in the 58th minute for a foul against Lucas Digne to leave Chelsea one man down.

But Chelsea’s problems exceed going one-man down to an Aston Villa side desperate for a place in Europe.

Chelsea now a laughing stock of the Premier League

The Blues have become a laughing stock for premier league sides with the West London side no longer having the fear factor they once exhibited under Thomas Tuchel.

Simply put, no one fears Chelsea anymore, and Stamford Bridge is no longer a fortress that saves the Blues from defeat.

In a weekend where the likes of Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool are able to come out with maximum points, the West-London side have a lot of catching up to do.
