Chelsea: “Fans will be surprised next season” — Madueke
Chelsea winger Noni Madueke has confidently predicted that his teammate Carney Chukwuemeka will be a significant threat to Premier League defenders next season. Speaking to the club’s official website, Madueke shared his high expectations for the young midfielder, who is looking to rebound from an injury-plagued campaign.
Madueke, who joined Chelsea from PSV Eindhoven in January 2023, experienced a mixed first full season at Stamford Bridge. Despite the ups and downs, the 22-year-old finished strong, contributing three goals and two assists in the last nine matches.
In contrast, Chukwuemeka endured a challenging season, making only 12 appearances across all competitions due to injuries. However, Madueke is confident that his close friend and teammate will bounce back and make a significant impact in the upcoming season.
“Carney is the player I spend most time with, easily. I knew him through the England set-up,” Madueke revealed. “We are just very similar, we get on really well. We like the same things and have the same type of personality, so it just clicks.”
Madueke believes that a fully fit Chukwuemeka will pose a substantial problem for opposing teams. “When he’s fully fit, he’s a problem for teams. So I can’t wait until next season for him to be fit from the start of the season and just show everyone what he can do.”
