Big Update for Super Eagles and boost for Jose Peseiro
A Christmas miracle comes for the Super Eagles of Nigeria on a February as star striker, Victor Osimhen is said to be fit to travel with the national team ahead of the AFCON Semi-final clash versus South Africa.
The Napoli forward was reportedly ruled out from being included in the squad after he sustained an injury in the previous fixture versus Angola.
However, the Super Eagles are given a ray of hope hours heading into the Semi-final, to give Jose Peseiro a needed boost against a tough South Africa side.
Reports emerging from Abidjan, the host nation of the tournament, have affirmed that Osimhen is poised to make his presence felt in Wednesday’s highly anticipated fixture.
Following thorough assessment and medical clearance, the prolific striker has embarked on his journey to Bouake, where he is set to link up with his teammates ahead of the encounter.
Earlier concerns about his availability surfaced on Monday, as the team disclosed that Osimhen was contending with abdominal discomfort, casting doubt on his participation.
Consequently, Osimhen was notably absent as the Nigerian squad embarked on their journey for the pivotal match.
However, with news of his recovery and readiness to take to the field once more, coach Jose Peseiro will undoubtedly be buoyed by the return of his star striker.
Speaking of Peseiro, reports state that the Portuguese is being eyed to take over the Algeria national team upon conclusion of the 2023 AFCON tournament.
There stands no confirmation at this stage, but all hands seem to be on deck for Jose Peseiro’s next managerial move.
Should he win the AFCON with Nigeria, Jose Peseiro and Victor Osimhen could become a hot cake heading into the summer.
