Barcelona Will Have To Loose 4 Games -- Thibaut Courtois

Real Madrid’s hopes of winning the LaLiga title this season are all but over, according to their goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois. The Belgian shot-stopper made the admission following Real Madrid’s 2-1 defeat to Barcelona on Sunday at Camp Nou.

Despite taking the lead through an own goal by Ronald Araujo, Real Madrid was pegged back by Sergi Roberto’s equalizer before half-time. Franck Kessie then scored in injury time to seal a vital win for the home team.

The result leaves Real Madrid 12 points behind Barcelona in the league table, effectively ending their title hopes for this season. Speaking after the match, Thibaut Courtois was frank about his team’s chances.

“We wanted to fight until the end, but now it’s four games’ difference… They’d have to lose four games, and we’d have to win all of them. Nothing is impossible, but it’s very difficult,” Courtois said in an interview with Movistar.

Barcelona has been in exceptional form this season, with Lionel Messi in particular rediscovering his scoring touch. The Catalan giants are now on course to win their first league title since 2019, having put together an impressive run of form in recent weeks.

Despite the disappointment of the defeat, Real Madrid will be looking to finish the season strongly, with the UEFA Champions League still up for grabs.

However, Thibaut Courtois and his teammates will need to regroup quickly and refocus their energies if they are to mount a serious challenge in Europe’s premier club competition.
