Arsenal vs. Wolverhampton Wanderers: Preview

If anything has become boring in the premier league, it is the fact that every game; be it the season opener or the final match day, matters and for Arsenal and Wolverhampton Wanderers, so is their season.

The race for the elusive premier league title is at stake for the Gunners even without rivals, Manchester City kicking a ball, and if Mikel Arteta has anything to use as leverage, it is by making sure they win the tie versus Wolves at the Emirates. There is no compromise, since the arrival of Pep Guardiola in the English league, has proven any point dropped in the season, can come back to haunt the team.

Wolverhampton Wanderers on their end, would be seeking to improve beyond their last season form where they finished 14th in the league table, 20-points off the relegation zone, a far cry from the Wolves the premier league had grown to be wary of.

Wolverhampton Wanderers vs. Arsenal: Confirmed Lineup

For the Gunners however, they have recent history against Wolverhampton Wanderers to be thankful of as Arsenal has gone unbeaten and a lengthy winning run since the 2021/22 season, stealing all 3-points against the visitors from Molineaux.

Mikel Arteta will be hoping to build on that against Gary O’Neil’s team to mount an early title charge against Manchester City who will be taking on Chelsea on Sunday. With a 3-goal difference, barring other results today having same score line or more, Arsenal can race themselves back to top spot as against the Sunday and Monday games.

The Gunners can also remain top in the first weekend of the 2024/25 season if Manchester City fail to beat Chelsea or any other team in the league including City fail to score more goals than Arsenal.

That said, Wolverhampton Wanderers should not be written off against Arsenal.
