Alexander-Arnold snubs media reactions to icy exchange
Liverpool’s 2-0 triumph over Brentford may have secured their second win of the season, but it’s the icy sideline demeanor of Trent Alexander-Arnold that’s got fans buzzing.
Despite a stellar performance that saw Liverpool hit a record-breaking 92% pass accuracy, all eyes were on the full-back’s frosty reaction after being subbed off in the 72nd minute.
Footage of the indifferent response from Trent Alexander-Arnold to Arne Slot’s words on the bench has fueled speculation about his future at Anfield.

While the Liverpool boss downplayed the incident, citing the need to manage Trent’s fitness after international duty, the incident couldn’t have come at a worse time. With Real Madrid reportedly circling, fans are left wondering: could this be the start of something bigger?
Adding fuel to the fire, the usually vocal Trent remained silent on social media until he broke it with a brief, almost cryptic, post:
“First win at home. Fans were incredible as always.”
In his post-match press conference, Slot addressed the incident, attempting to downplay the situation.
“He didn’t look that happy after being taken off, you mean?” Slot responded when asked about Trent’s demeanor. “I understand. Every player wants to play 90 minutes, but I don’t think the players on the bench from the start were really happy with the choice I made.”
Slot went on to explain the decision, highlighting the need to manage Trent’s workload after his return from international duty.
“He came back from the national team, where in the beginning of the tournament he played quite a lot and then he didn’t. He had a few weeks off, came back, and it is only his third game. We have to take care of him. We need him for the whole season, not just the first two games,” Slot added. While his reasoning seems sound, it did little to quell the chatter among fans and pundits.
Meanwhile, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano hints that Liverpool are eager to lock down their star with a new contract—but with Madrid lurking, is it already too late?
“They will have their chance to keep Trent at the club and extend his contract. Let’s see how talks will go,” Romano reported.
