Same Old: A Brighton defeat for Manchester United
There had to be a narrative this weekend, and Brighton versus Manchester United was it, despite the promises the Red Devils came with this season.
The Seagulls again have pulled out a shocker to steal all 3-points away from Erik ten Hag’s United team in a 2-1 defeat thanks to goals by former Manchester United and Arsenal player; Danny Welbeck and Joao Pedro for Brighton. Fabian Hürzeler’s team twice took the lead against the Old Trafford side with the Red Devils needing a goal from Amad Diallo to level things in the 60th minute.
Last weekend’s hero, Joshua Zirkzee thought he had once again played hero to put the boys in Red ahead after scoring in the 70th minute until VAR check ruled him offside for the goal.

This stands Manchester United’s first defeat of the season, with signs of it coming in their opening game against Fulham where the Red Devils themselves struggled to take the lead until Joshua Zirkzee bailed them out.
Again, Manchester United manager, Erik ten Hag have his decision to rue, first from his team selection and his rigidity to sticking with the same starting XI that struggled upfront versus Fulham.
For a second weekend running, the Dutchman showed loyalty to Marcus Rashford despite being off form this season, and playing Skipper, Bruno Fernandes off position against Brighton as a false nine while benching new signing, Joshua Zirkzee and in form winger, Alejandro Garnacho.
It may be the first defeat of the premier league season for the Old Trafford team, but a lot of worry is already on the table for the Dutchman and Manchester United fans.
