Arne Slot blocked from making dream move

Arne Slot will be making his move to Liverpool this summer once the current campaign ends with both him and Jurgen Klopp leaving their respective clubs; Feyenoord and Liverpool.

Ahead of the summer move, the Dutchman will be inheriting a Jurgen Klopp problem on his move to Merseyside, thanks to Barcelona proving headstrong with their talent factory.

According to reports, Arne Slot like Jurgen Klopp will miss on signing Barcelona’s Gavi as the Catalan giants have marked the Spaniard as untouchable this summer.

Speculation about Slot’s move to Anfield intensified after reports surfaced that a compensation fee of up to £9.4 million had been agreed upon with Feyenoord. The Dutchman is set to succeed Klopp, who announced his departure from Liverpool in January, effective at the end of the current season.

Slot’s successful tenure at Feyenoord, where he led the club to the 2022-23 Eredivisie title and secured the Dutch Cup this season, has reportedly impressed Liverpool’s decision-makers. His attacking style of play, personality, and knack for player development are cited as key factors in his selection as Klopp’s successor.

The report which comes courtesy of The Athletic suggests that upon taking charge at Liverpool, Arne Slot will encounter similar restrictions on transfers.

It is no secret that Klopp has long been an admirer of the young midfielder, with reports from Spanish radio station El Nacional in April 2022 suggesting Klopp’s keen interest in securing Gavi’s services.

Nevertheless, Barcelona has reportedly designated Gavi as “untouchable,” along with Lamine Yamal and Pau Cubarsi, amidst their plans to make significant sales in the summer.

While Gavi’s future at Barcelona appears secure, speculation surrounds the potential departure of Robert Lewandowski. Despite the Polish striker’s impressive goal tally of 23 this season, he has been linked with moves to the Saudi Pro League and MLS.

Barcelona boss Xavi Hernandez refrained from discussing transfer speculation but praised Lewandowski’s contributions to the team, describing him as an outstanding footballer and a positive influence in the dressing room.
