Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom could end up as collateral damage

Aquaman the Lost Kingdom could be one of those films that ends up being collateral damage as a result of the highly publicized defamation case between Amber Heard and Johnny Depp.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom could be collateral damage

Amber Heard and Johnny Depp could make Aquaman 2 a collateral damage

Very often times, great films have suffered not because of its story but the whimsical actions of one of its cast members. And Aquaman 2 may ultimately end up in such list.

Prior to the final verdict of the legal debacle between former couple, Heard and Depp, there had been growing movements pleading for the actress’s removal from the DC feature film.

This was partly due to Johnny Depp’s own removal from Fantastic Beasts, with the Actor’s fan base also wanting the same done to Amber Heard with Aquaman 2.

The movement somewhat got to a momentum where at a point, reports had Amber Heard’s scenes significantly reduced, much to the confirmation of one of the film’s producers.

But right after the verdict was delivered, and Johnny Depp was declared winner in court, reports came up once more that Amber Heard’s scenes in Aquaman 2 were being increased.

This news got a lot of avid movie fans and even Johnny Depp’s fans who were looking towards Heard’s firing from the film, alot more angry, with petitions outrightly going forward to boycott the film entirely.

This isn’t the first time this case has influenced a movie’s performance or aggrieved fans had unanimously decided to boycott a film as a result.

It can be said that one of the reasons the Fantastic Beasts’ third film failed at the box office was because fans felt Warner Bros, the studio behind the film’s distribution in theatres had Depp fired while keeping Heard.

This to fans spoke injustice from the studio, as they felt Warner Bros had picked a side without waiting for the verdict on the case.

With the verdict already delivered, and with reports that  WB are still going ahead with Amber Heard, fans henceforth will see a bias being created which in turn could very much end up making  the Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, a collateral damage in a defamation case that  in the first place shouldn’t have concerned it.
