"Why sell Fabio Carvalho?" — Liverpool fans in uproar

Liverpool fans aren’t in the very least happy with the club’s summer transfer as rising star, Fabio Carvalho gets sold despite promising pre-season display.

The Reds fanbase are reeling from the shock news that Fabio Carvalho, a standout performer in the club’s pre-season tour, is reportedly on his way to Brentford. With the Reds preparing for their first season under new manager Arne Slot, the decision to let Carvalho go has not only left the fanbase asking questions but divided as to the club’s strategy moving forward.

Since his move to Merseyside, Fabio Carvalho has rarely had a chance to show his worth for Liverpool with Jurgen Klopp famously snubbing the youngster throughout the 2022/23 season.

After a season on loan at RB Leipzig and Hull City, the 21-year-old midfielder returned to Anfield with a point to prove. And prove it he did—scoring against heavyweights Arsenal and Manchester United during the team’s U.S. tour. His performances suggested that he could be a key player in Slot’s new era. But in a surprising twist, it seems Liverpool have accepted a €20 million offer from Brentford, with the deal including substantial add-ons and a sell-on clause.

The sale has sparked a fierce debate among fans, with some praising Brentford for what they see as a major coup, while others are left scratching their heads at Liverpool’s decision. On social media, reactions ranged from disbelief to frustration. “He had a good pre-season. Why was he sold?” one fan lamented. Another voiced what many are thinking: “Still trying to figure out why. Had so much great expectations for him this season.”

With the start of the season just days away, and Liverpool yet to make any new signings, questions are being raised about whether Slot has made the right call. For Brentford, though, this could be a game-changing addition, and all eyes will be on Carvalho to see if he can live up to the hype under Thomas Frank’s guidance.

Is this a masterstroke by Brentford, or will Liverpool come to regret letting one of their brightest young talents slip away? Only time will tell.
