Ivan Toney: "I’m convinced" — Paul Scholes to Arsenal

Manchester United legend Paul Scholes still cannot fathom why North London side Arsenal hasn’t gone for Brentford striker Ivan Toney.

The former midfield sensation in a recent statement has urged the North London club to move quickly in securing the signature of Brentford and England international before the summer transfer window closes.

According to Scholes, Toney could be the game-changer that Arsenal needs to mount a serious title challenge this season, potentially delivering at least 25 goals under Mikel Arteta’s guidance.

Why Newcastle United are refusing to sell to Arsenal

During a recent discussion on The Overlap, Scholes analyzed Arsenal’s attacking options, acknowledging the impressive goal tally the Gunners achieved last season. However, he emphasized that the addition of a prolific center forward like Toney could be the key to unlocking Arsenal’s full potential.

“It’s hard to criticize their goal-scoring record from last season—it was phenomenal. But adding a proven number nine like Toney, who guarantees you 25 goals, would take them to another level,” Scholes stated.

Toney has been one of the Premier League’s most consistent strikers, catching the eye with his clinical finishing and physical presence. Despite being linked with several top clubs this summer, Scholes believes that Arsenal is the perfect fit for the England international.

“In that Arsenal team, I’m convinced Toney would score 25 goals, and he’d do the same in most top teams. He’s the type of player that can thrive in a system like Arteta’s, where creativity and chances are abundant,” Scholes added.

The potential acquisition of Toney could not only provide Arsenal with a reliable goal-scorer but also offer Arteta greater tactical flexibility. With the Premier League title race expected to be as competitive as ever, Scholes is convinced that Toney’s arrival could give Arsenal the cutting edge they need to compete with the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool.

As the transfer window draws to a close, Arsenal fans will be watching closely to see if the club heeds Scholes’ advice.
