Could be a problem for Arsenal -- Ferdinand on Ivan Toney

Former Manchester United defender, Rio Ferdinand has some reservations on Brentford striker, Ivan Toney making the move over to the Emirates this coming summer as links with Arsenal continues to thicken.

It is no longer a secret that the 27-year-old striker is set to depart the Bees in quest for a big move this summer, with the club already confirming Toney’s intention to move on from Brentford.

However, Rio Ferdinand looks at a different angle that may be problematic for both Ivan Toney and Arsenal if the Englishman does make the move to the Emirates.

According to the United legend, Toney would be arriving at North London obviously down the pecking order with a host of names ahead of him in the starting lineup which could affect his ego upon making the move.

“I don’t think he would move like that [with a big ego]. I would be surprised. Remember, he has never played for a big club,” Ferdinand remarked on a recent episode of his podcast.

The former Manchester United defender noted the presence of established players at Arsenal, including the likes of Declan Rice, William Saliba, Gabriel Magalhaes, Martin Odegaard, and Gabriel Jesus, suggesting that Toney would need to be respectful and mindful of his place within the squad.

“Do you think he is going to come with that chat about Mikel Arteta when you have Declan Rice, William Saliba, Gabriel Magalhaes, Martin Odegaard, and Gabriel Jesus?”

Ivan Toney making the move to Arsenal has a lot of positives for the Gunners but on hindsight, the strength the Brentford star would be coming to the Emirates with, could also be a weakness.
