Chelsea Loan: Make or break season for Victor Osimhen
The upcoming season is going to see some Blues on our screen and following transfer expert, David Ornstein’s latest report, Nigeria’s star striker Victor Osimhen is headed for West London to link up with Chelsea.
It was widely reported some weeks ago that the Napoli forward would be making the move to the French Ligue 1 with Paris Saint-Germain who made their interest in the striker known this summer after Kylian Mbappe’s exit to Real Madrid was made official.
However, the latest report now comes with a twist as it appears Paris Saint-Germain are no longer pushing for a move for Victor Osimhen as premier league side, Chelsea enters the mix. This is supposedly in response to Napoli engaging in talks with the Blues that sees Chelsea player, Romelu Lukaku reunite with Antonio Conte on a permanent basis at Naples.
Hence, the West London side are taking the initiative to dialogue for Victor Osimhen according to David Ornstein’s narrative. However, the deal would not be for a permanent move to the Stamford Bridge, with the Nigerian supposedly playing on a season-long loan with an option to buy.

This comes as an interesting take for the Blues and perhaps Napoli who highly value their striker at around €100 million in order to foster an exit. It is said that Osimhen too wants an exit from Napoli, with the Nigerian absent from pre-season training so far.
Though a potential move to Chelsea is a good deal for both parties involved, but there is a cold catch that seems very reminiscent of a Joao Felix situation two years ago with Chelsea.
The Blues for an insane amount of money, acquired the services of the Portugal international on a 6-months loan deal, which ultimately ended up not favoring both parties. Chelsea finished below the top 10 in the premier league table that season while spending a humongous amount of money acquiring talents like Enzo Fernandez and Felix.
This though not obvious parallels with the 2023 deals, still bears similarities as should Victor Osimhen move to the Stamford Bridge for a season long loan deal, the pressure falls on the Nigerian to be the face of the attack in a team that would for the 3rd time running still be figuring itself out.

No matter how we want to sugar coat things, Victor Osimhen moving to Chelsea is like stepping on a landmine hoping not to get blown by it. The Blues will be starting the new season with yet again a new manager, with 2 pre-season games doing nothing to inspire confidence at the moment.
It could turn out that Victor Osimhen will end up becoming the messiah just like Cole Palmer was last season, but Chelsea with loan deals for players cannot be trusted for a club that so easily ditches its managers when the going gets thick. And should the Nigerian have a less than stellar season, it could affect his next move and perhaps, scare off big suitors from looking his way.
