Call of Duty to Joins Xbox Game Pass

Microsoft is reportedly set to announce that the next instalment of Call of Duty will be included in Xbox Game Pass.

According to The Wall Street Journal, the announcement will be made during Microsoft’s Xbox showcase on June 9th.

Earlier this month, it was reported that Microsoft was debating whether to include new Call of Duty releases in Game Pass, amid concerns that this move might impact the substantial revenue generated from traditional sales.

Activision typically sells Call of Duty copies for around $70, with the franchise averaging over 20 million copies sold.

The Wall Street Journal’s brief report does not specify whether Microsoft will charge extra for Call of Duty within Game Pass or if there will be an increase in the Game Pass Ultimate subscription fee.

It is understood that Microsoft has been contemplating another price hike for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. Activision is aiming for a late October release for the next Call of Duty, rumoured to be set during the 1990s Gulf War.

Microsoft’s Xbox summer showcase on June 9th will feature a special Call of Duty segment following the main event. Additionally, Microsoft is expected to announce a new Gears of War game and reveal release dates for several upcoming Xbox titles, including Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, Avowed, and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.
