England Coach, Gareth Southgate does Klopp a favor ahead of Champions League Final

Of course, it may be considered inconsequential, but England manager, after some chats with Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp, has decided to do the German a favor ahead of the Champions League final in Paris.

The coach has decided to leave out Liverpool skipper, Jordan Henderson from the England squad to play in the Nations League games in the off season, in a bid to gift the midfielder a sort of mental rest after a hectic season.

It may not have been the pre-Champions League final midfield boost Jürgen Klopp was looking for, but it goes in a long way to help the England star ahead of the coming Premier League season and World Cup, and to some extent, keep the midfielder focused on the coming objective.

The German has kept it a secret his dislike of the Nations League and the additional pressures it placed on footballers already performing to the limit in club competitions, having his star relieved of those pressures will be a welcomed relief for the Liverpool boss.

“I was very conscious with the Champions League boys,” The Three Lions boss said of the decision. “They’ve had a remarkable season really and couldn’t have been involved with any more games.

“We’ve learnt in the last three or four years from players we’ve had involved in that match that the emotional fallout, win or lose, is enormous and you’re not too sure what’s coming through the door.

“It’s very difficult to get yourselves up after that. We’ve got good players in all of those areas of the pitch so we’ve got cover and we felt that Hendo, we didn’t need to see this summer.” Southgate explained.

It stands to reason that the Liverpool manager, Klopp may lose players in Midfield such as Thiago Alcantara and Fabinho ahead of the final as they are on the road to recovery, but having Jordan Henderson fit and concentrated for the final, will be all the Manager could wish for.

And, thanks to Gareth Southgate’s generosity, Klopp now knows that an immediate call-up for international duty will not follow for his captain.

It stands to reason that Henderson is set to make 57 appearances this season should he start in the final, a long rest after that will be a needed boost for the English midfielder.
