3 confimed dead after consuming expired drugs in Kaduna

Three individuals, namely Abdulsalam Lawal, Muhammed Auwal Abubakar, and Ibrahim Kabiru, tragically lost their lives after ingesting expired medication in the Kabala Doki community of Kaduna North Local Government Area, Kaduna State.

Two other Nigerian youths are currently receiving medical treatment after ingesting expired medication.

According to sources, it is believed that the drugs were acquired from vehicles that were seized and later sold by customs at the Kabala Doki Area Command. The victims were reportedly involved in the process of removing the vehicles.

On Tuesday, April 9, the ward head of Kabala Doki, Danlami Bawa, confirmed the incident.

According to a source, the young people had held onto the expired medications with the intention of using them for the Eid festivities, completely unaware that the drugs had expired many years ago.

According to Bawa, one individual confessed to consuming the expired medication and distributing it to others before their unfortunate demise on Monday, April 8.

The Public Relations Officer of the Customs Area Command of Kabala Doki, Muhammad Amin, made it clear that their responsibility is solely to auction vehicles. They have no knowledge of how or where the youths obtained the drugs.

The incident has been confirmed by the Public Relations Officer of the Kaduna State Police Command, Mansur Hassan. He mentioned that investigations are currently underway to ascertain the cause of the tragic deaths of the youths.
