Zoom introduces latest feature aimed at Late-Comers

Zoom has late-comers to meeting covered.

Zoom, the popular video conferencing platform, has announced the introduction of new features that aim to help latecomers catch up with virtual meetings. These features include AI-powered meeting summaries, prompt-based email responses, whiteboard generation, video huddles, and a meeting scheduler.

According to Zoom, the new features are expected to raise the competition between the cloud-based video conferencing platform and other communication applications such as Slack, Calendly, Google, and Microsoft. The company says it wants users to use more of its tools in the execution of their duty, hence it is opening up its email and calendar clients to everyone.

Zoom has expanded its Zoom IQ assistant to provide AI-powered summaries and “ask further questions” even when users join a meeting midway. Once the meeting ends, the bot will post a summary to Zoom’s team chat feature. The assistant can also summarize the chat threads in the team chat. Until now, Zoom IQ had the ability to record highlights, divide a meeting into chapters, and list action items automatically.

The move to introduce new features comes after Zoom laid off 1,300 or 15% of its workforce in February. The company believes that the new features will help it remain relevant at facilitating meetings and competing with other communication applications.

“We are excited to introduce these new features that will enhance our users’ experience and help them catch up with virtual meetings they join late,” said a spokesperson for Zoom. “We are confident that our AI-powered meeting summaries, whiteboard generation, video huddles, and other features will help us remain competitive in the marketplace and provide our users with more tools to execute their duties efficiently.”

The spokesperson added that the new features are part of Zoom’s commitment to providing innovative solutions that meet the needs of its users. With the new features, Zoom hopes to continue to provide reliable and efficient video conferencing services to its growing user base.
