Woman jailed for human trafficking and using minors to beg for alms in Calabar
In Calabar, a woman was arrested for human trafficking and employing children to beg for alms.
One Glory Asuquo, a native of Akwa Ibom State, was sentenced to prison by the Federal High Court in Calabar, Cross River State, for human trafficking and employing children for alms begging.
On Tuesday, June 7, 35-year-old Asuquo was convicted to six months in prison for violating the TIPPEA, 2015 human trafficking legislation.
According to a statement released by the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) on Wednesday, June 8, Asuquo was detained for exploiting minors to beg for alms on the streets of Calabar, the state capital of Cross River.
