Will Smith tenders apology to Chris Rock for hitting him at the Oscars
Hollywood Actor, Will Smith, has finally rendered a sincere apology to American Comedian, Chris Rock for assaulting him at the Oscars on Sunday, March 27.
TopNaija recalls that on Sunday, March 27 was shocking for guests after Will Smith stormed the stage to hit Chris Rock after the latter made a joke about his wife Jada Pinkett Smith having her hair cut like that of G.I Jane’s, who has a shaved head.
Sadly, TopNaija recalls Pinkett Smith revealed in 2018 that she has been grappling with hair loss as she suffers from hair loss condition alopecia.
Following mixed reactions after the slapping incident with most criticizing Smith for being violent, he has now apologized.
Taking to his Instagram page, the American actor said his “behaviour was unacceptable and inexcusable” as he was out of line. He added that he is embarrassed and his actions were not indicative of the man he wants to be.
he wrote;
Violence in all of its forms is poisonous and destructive. My behavior at last night’s Academy Awards was unacceptable and inexcusable. Jokes at my expense are a part of the job, but a joke about Jada’s medical condition was too much for me to bear and I reacted emotionally.
I would like to publicly apologize to you, Chris. I was out of line and I was wrong. I am embarrassed and my actions were not indicative of the man I want to be. There is no place for violence in a world of love and kindness.
I would also like to apologize to the Academy, the producers of the show, all the attendees and everyone watching around the world. I would like to apologize to the Williams Family and my King Richard Family. I deeply regret that my behavior has stained what has been an otherwise gorgeous journey for all of us.
I am a work in progress.
Sincerely,
