The Governor of  Rivers State, Nyesom Wike on Monday, December 13,2021 announced the sack of the State commissioner for Health Prof. Princewill Chike.

The sack came after Prof. Princewill Chike accepted to host the preliminary session of Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria, MDCN, in Port Harcourt without the governor’s approval.

The Governor made the announcement when he received in audience the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria, Prof. Abba Wasiri Hassan at the Government House, Port Harcourt.

Gov. Wike described the decision of the Commissioner as most embarrassing.

He said the state government did not request to host the MDCN preliminary session and wondered why the Health commissioner will decide to host the event at the same time when the State government is commissioning and flagging off of projects.

“Frankly speaking, I have never seen an embarrassment like this in my life. Everybody knows that it is not my nature to bring people and you cannot attend to them or host. So, whoever has done this will suffer for it.”

The MDCN, since its establishment in 1963 has had a rewarding and growth-filled adventure, in its regulatory activities.
