The Lagos State University (LASU) has revealed that it would only admit between 4,800 and 5,200 candidates for the 2016/2017 academic session.

Olanrewaju Fagbohun, the vice-chancellor of the university, made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

Fagbohun noted that the carrying capacity quota for the university from the National Universities Commission (NUC) was over 7,000 while the current population of students in the university is over 13,000. He said the university’s authorities do not want to stretch the available faculties, hence, will not take beyond 5,200 candidates.

“As a responsible institution that had conducted an audit of the available facilities, we have decided not to go beyond admitting 5,200 candidates until we expand our facilities. We will continue to improve on our facilities to meet up with the NUC quota and give room for more applicants to choose the university as their preferred first choice,” he said.

The management of Lagos State University(LASU) has also directed newly admitted students who modified their course to immediately effect the change on JAMB website.

Akinwumi Lewis, the school’s registrar, said this in the statement released on Wednesday, specifically for freshmen admitted into the institution for 2016/2017 academic session.

The change of course which costs N2, 500 is expected to be paid directly to JAMB online which is then followed by the registration on the website.
