"What stopped us from scoring" — Pep Guardiola

Manchester City are rarely known for playing out a 0-0 draw in a game no matter the opponent they face, a fact that surprises even City boss Pep Guardiola who finds it hard to fathom the reason they could not get the ball into the back of the net.

Serie A side, Inter Milan against their visitors in the Wednesday night affair, came off crude in their defensive master class to hold off whatever aspirations the Cityzens came with to the San Siro.

Speaking to TNT Sports, Pep Guardiola chose to shower his players with praise, rather than criticize their performance which as he declared, could not fault.

“We played so good, I love my team. We are a fantastic team.” the Spaniard is quoted saying.

The City boss was quick to point out the challenge posed by Inter’s deep defensive block, acknowledging that breaking down such a resolute backline was never going to be easy.

“That team defend really well, they are masters of defending, and in transition they are really strong as well,” Guardiola added, acknowledging the organized approach that had City searching for creative solutions all night.

The tactical battle was one that Pep Guardiola seemed to relish, emphasizing the challenge posed by Inter’s compact setup.

“We conceded one and a half chances… you can’t expect to make many chances when a team defends with 11 players so deep,” he remarked.

The Spanish tactician was clearly impressed with his side’s ability to maintain control of the game, despite Inter’s stubborn defense and their quick counter-attacks.

The two sides came to loggerheads in the 2022/23 Champions League where Manchester City narrowly edged it with 1-0 win thanks to a Rodri strike.
