“A coward’s move” — Arsenal legend blasts Haaland
Former Arsenal star Ian Wright has hit out at Erling Haaland, calling the Manchester City striker a “coward” for his actions after John Stones’ last-minute equalizer in City’s tense 2-2 draw with Arsenal.
While the Gunners were left frustrated by the controversial red card of Leandro Trossard, Wright revealed that what really angered him was Haaland’s unsportsmanlike behavior toward Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhães.
Wright expressed his frustration on Instagram, venting about Haaland’s move, where the striker threw the ball at the back of Gabriel’s head when the Arsenal defender wasn’t looking. “That’s a real coward’s move,” Wright fumed, adding that Gabriel would have faced Haaland head-on in a fair confrontation.

What further irritated Wright was the fact that Haaland’s antics didn’t stop there. After the match, the Norwegian forward reportedly clashed with Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta, telling him to “stay humble”—words that escalated tensions.
Haaland even allegedly taunted Arsenal debutant Myles Lewis-Skelly with a dismissive “who the f* are you?”**, sparking more controversy.
Wright’s candid reaction underscores the emotions that ran high in what was already a fiery encounter between two Premier League giants. Haaland’s behavior has now become a talking point, dividing opinions among fans and pundits alike.
Will the Premier League’s top scorer face further backlash, or will the focus shift back to Arsenal’s performance?
