Chelsea to scrap 'Golden rule'

Chelsea have decided to end their pursuit of Kieran McKenna as their new head coach. McKenna, who has earned acclaim for guiding Ipswich Town back to the Premier League with consecutive promotions, was considered a strong contender following Mauricio Pochettino’s departure last week.

Despite initial discussions and considerable admiration for McKenna, Chelsea have opted to focus on other candidates. According to The Athletic, the club’s shortlist now includes Leicester City’s Enzo Maresca and Brentford’s Thomas Frank, with Roberto De Zerbi also being linked to the position.

McKenna, who previously served as an assistant coach at Manchester United, is drawing interest from Brighton and his former club, United. While Ipswich Town hopes to retain McKenna with a new contract, he appears poised for a new challenge.

In related news, Erik ten Hag, who recently led Manchester United to an FA Cup victory, is reportedly at risk of losing his job despite the recent success.
