“We’re not hiding from that” — Bruno Fernandes on Man City defeat
The tunnel keeps getting darker for Manchester United with no light or end in sight as the team once more crumbled to yet another defeat that even club captain, Bruno Fernandes cannot hide from.
The Manchester United’s skipper has conceded that securing a spot in next season’s Champions League will be an arduous task for his team. This admission comes in the wake of a 3-1 defeat suffered by Manchester United at the hands of their local rivals, Manchester City, this past Sunday.
Despite initially taking the lead with a remarkable long-range strike from Marcus Rashford, Manchester United was unable to hold onto their advantage. A brace from Phil Foden and a late goal from Erling Haaland ensured a comeback victory for the hosts.
With this defeat, the Red Devils find themselves trailing fourth-placed Aston Villa by a considerable margin of 11 points. This substantial gap presents a significant challenge for Manchester United as they strive to secure Champions League football for the upcoming season.
Addressing the media, Bruno Fernandes acknowledged the daunting task ahead, stating,
“We’re not hiding from that, we want to be in the Champions League. We want to try until the end of the season to get into that fourth place that gives you the possibility to get into the Champions League.
“We know it’s going to be hard, but we have to do everything that is in our hands that we can do going into the next game at home.” Bruno Fernandes said.
