“We won’t give up” — William Saliba on Liverpool defeat
Arsenal faced an early exit from the FA Cup following a 2-0 defeat against Liverpool, despite displaying resilience and creating numerous opportunities that tested Alisson in the Liverpool goal.
The Gunners hit the woodwork and applied pressure before conceding two late goals, ending their FA Cup journey at the first hurdle.
William Saliba, the French center-back set to join the team for warm-weather training in Dubai, remains optimistic about Arsenal’s prospects.
He emphasized the importance of unity and collective effort, expressing confidence in the team’s ability to overturn their fortunes once they resume fixtures, starting with the upcoming match against Crystal Palace.
Saliba reflected on the match, stating, “I’m really disappointed because we started the game so well. We had too many chances to score, but we didn’t.”
He highlighted the need to convert opportunities and tighten defensive strategies, especially in defending set-pieces, acknowledging the disappointment in conceding a late free-kick.
Despite acknowledging the team’s current struggles, Saliba emphasized resilience and unity. “We know we’re not in our best moment, but we won’t give up and we’ll come back even stronger,” he remarked, highlighting the team’s determination to improve.
With a winter break until their next fixture against Crystal Palace on January 20th and subsequent days leading up to the Nottingham Forest match, Arsenal aims to regroup, work on their strategies, and return rejuvenated to improve their performance in upcoming fixtures.
