We paid CBT centres N1.5bn to conduct 2023 exam – JAMB
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has disclosed that it paid a total sum of N1,478,416,000.00 to owners of non-JAMB Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres across the country.
These payments were made for the services rendered during the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination. Dr Fabian Benjamin, the Director of Public Affairs and Protocol of the Board, made the announcement in a statement released on Thursday.
According to Dr Benjamin, it is essential to settle obligations promptly to foster and maintain a cordial working relationship with partners who have diligently fulfilled their duties. He noted that most of the examination centres used were not owned by JAMB, and some of them were the ICT facilities of tertiary institutions.
Dr Benjamin described the relationship between JAMB and the privately-owned CBT centres, as well as others involved, as collaborative in nature. The objective of this collaboration is to ensure better quality service delivery and inclusiveness in the examination process. He further stated that the board is proud to announce that all centre owners who provided quality service during the recently concluded examination have been appropriately commended and compensated.
The disclosure of the payment made to non-JAMB CBT centres highlights the acknowledgment of their contribution to the successful conduct of the 2023 UTME. However, it is important to note that the accuracy and legitimacy of the disclosed payment amount are subject to further verification and scrutiny.
As the examination process relies on the services provided by these non-JAMB CBT centres, the board’s recognition and compensation reflect their significance in facilitating a smooth examination experience for candidates. JAMB’s commitment to promptly settle financial obligations demonstrates its efforts to maintain transparency and professionalism in its dealings with its partners.
