Turji dares government, claims no fear of death in new video
Bandit leader Bello Turji has brazenly declared that he and his men aren’t afraid of death, mocking the government’s efforts to crush his group.
In a defiant video, Turji taunted, “If we were afraid of dying, we wouldn’t have picked up arms in the first place. Stop sending Service Chiefs after us.”
This bold declaration comes after the Nigerian government dispatched top military brass, including the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, to Sokoto State, vowing to intensify their crackdown on Turji and his gang.
Turji’s words follow a recent viral video where he and his men were seen celebrating after allegedly seizing two Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected Vehicles (MRAPs) from the Nigerian Army. However, the Defence Headquarters quickly debunked the claim, stating the MRAPs were stuck in a swampy area during an operation in Zamfara State and not captured by the bandits.
The government’s renewed military offensive, paired with Turji’s taunts, sets the stage for an intensified battle between state forces and the bandit groups plaguing Nigeria’s North West. Turji’s bravado might be met with the full force of a government determined to restore order.
